Scene:
You’re at a park having a picnic with some friends and family.
Strike One:  your child missed his early evening nap.  He’s tired.  And hungry… you’re also about 20 minutes late for his early evening feed.  (Strike Two.)
Someone is holding him while eating and chatting with the rest of us. 
He’s getting fidgetty.  He’s getting to that sleepy stage [...]

I’m all for change… as long as it doesn’t affect me.

A new friend and I were chatting one night about being new moms.   One thing she said that stuck with me was, ”You’ll be SO afraid to try anything different”. 
I didn’t understand at the time. 
AT ALL. 
I mean not whatsoever. 
But I filed it away for future reference.  I just knew that it would make sense someday.
And today is that someday.

Reluctant Mom

Yes, I was a reluctant mom.  And as it turned out, a surprisingly delighted mom.  But I came to it quite shyly.
I was always afraid of kids.  They’re just so much smaller than me.  They’re so fragile.  They’re little beings who have all their trust in you.  They depend on you 100%.
